Companies are struggling to manage reputational and political risk in a time of polarization and regulatory whiplash. Both Democratic and Republican administrations have increasingly pressured companies about their lawful business practices including pricing, employment policies, and sourcing/supply-chain strategies.  Companies overcorrecting in one administration may unwittingly magnify their risk in the next or have undermined their long-term strategy.

 

What practical steps can boards and management teams take to avoid being a target while adhering to longer-term strategy and value creation?  How can companies prepare for these risks, and how should they react when they find themselves in the crosshairs?
